3rd Anniversary Leather Gifts

Leather is the traditional gift for a 3rd wedding anniversary. The idea behind it is a nice one: by year three, a marriage has proved it's tough and can flex and adapt, just like good leather. Everything here is cut, stitched and finished by hand in my Norfolk workshop from full grain leather, so it's a gift that will be carried and used every day, not put away in a drawer.

Why Handmade Full Grain Leather Makes the Right Anniversary Gift

Full grain leather is the strongest part of the hide, and vegetable-tanned leather does something cheaper leather can't: it develops a patina. Over the years it darkens, softens and picks up the marks of everyday life, so no two pieces end up looking the same. A wallet or belt given on your third anniversary will look richer by your tenth. A third anniversary doesn't have to mean a big spend. These small pieces still carry the tradition:

Order in Good Time

Everything is made by hand, so most pieces take around 2 to 5 working days to make before they're posted, and personalised orders can take a little longer. If your anniversary is coming up, order a couple of weeks ahead to be safe. If you'd like something made to your own design, see bespoke projects or get in touch.

3rd Anniversary Gift FAQs

Is leather the traditional 3rd wedding anniversary gift?

Yes. In the UK and US, leather is the traditional gift for a third wedding anniversary. It stands for durability and strength, qualities a marriage has proved by year three.

What is the modern 3rd anniversary gift?

The modern list gives crystal or glass for the third anniversary, but leather remains the more popular, and more practical, choice.

Which leather ages best?

Full grain, vegetable-tanned leather. Badalassi Pueblo is one of the quickest to develop a rich patina, which is why I use it for many of my wallets and accessories. See the full Badalassi collection.

How do I look after a leather gift?

Very little is needed: an occasional wipe and a little conditioner. My leather care guide covers everything.
