A Day at the Daisysmilk Shed Farmers Market — 30th May 2026

There's something about a farmers market that just feels right. Fresh produce, local businesses, people having a wander with a drink in hand, and everything on the tables made by someone who's genuinely proud of what they do.

Daisy's Milkshed Farmers Market (30th May 2026) was one of those days.

I got there for 9am to get everything set up. As always, the gazebo decided it had other ideas for a few minutes, but eventually after wrestling with the winds I won that battle. Once everything was up, I laid out the belts, wallets, keyrings and a few desk accessories, then stood back for that familiar moment of wondering whether anyone would actually stop at the stall.

Thankfully, they did.

It was busy for most of the day, with a steady stream of families, couples and people just out for a browse. The best part wasn't even the sales-it was the conversations. People were genuinely interested in how everything is made, why I use full-grain vegetable-tanned leather, and how it changes over time. I must have explained saddle stitching more times than I can remember, but I never really mind. It's nice talking to people who appreciate the work that goes into making something by hand.

The belts were the most popular, which seems to be the case wherever I go. The wallets weren't far behind, and I was surprised by how many people picked up the bracelets as gifts. They're one of those products people often don't notice straight away, but once they do, they tend to disappear quickly.

As much as I enjoy selling online, markets remind me why I started doing this in the first place. A website can only show so much. It can't let you feel the leather, notice the smell, or see the stitching up close. Watching someone pick up a belt, run their hand over it and say, "You can tell this is going to last," is something you just don't get through a computer screen.

Days like this make the early start and the inevitable fight with the gazebo worth it.
