Bracelet Size Guide
A bracelet that fits properly sits comfortably, doesn't spin round your wrist and wears in evenly - so the leather develops its patina where it should. Getting it right takes one measurement and about thirty seconds.
How to Measure Your Wrist
- Wrap a fabric tape measure around your wrist, just below the wrist bone - where you'd wear a watch.
- Keep the tape snug but not tight.
- Read the measurement where the tape meets. That's your bracelet size.
- If you're between sizes, or you like a looser fit, size up.
How the size is measured
However a bracelet fastens, the fastening is already built into the size - just match your wrist measurement to the size, with nothing extra to add. How it's measured depends on the style:
Clasp bracelets - the clasp is part of the size.
The size is the total length of the bracelet, end to end, clasp included. For example, a 6" bracelet is 5½" of leather plus a ½" clasp.
Popper bracelets - measured popper to popper.
The size is the distance between the poppers at each end. For example, a 7" bracelet measures 7" from popper to popper. The leather carries on past the poppers so the ends can overlap and fasten - that extra length is on top of the size, so you don't need to allow for it.
No fabric tape? Wrap a strip of paper or a piece of string around your wrist, mark where it meets, then lay it flat against a ruler.
Measure your wrist rather than an old bracelet - different styles fasten in different ways, so an old bracelet's length won't tell you much.
