Expanding the Workshop | Building a New Shed for Leatherworking - LwLeatherworking

As I get further into this craft and pick up more tools along the way - my wife calls it an obsession - space in the workshop is getting tight. So tight that I'm tiptoeing round garden spades, toy tractors, and a pink bike every time I want to get near the bench.

With that in mind, and my shins tired of finding every obstacle in the dark, I decided a second shed was in order - somewhere to put the garden tools, the kids' toys, and the kids themselves if they misbehave. (Joking. Mostly.)

I went for a 6x8ft shiplap shed with a single door - modest, built from 2x1 inch framing, but sturdy enough to see out a few winters.

The foundation went in on a Thursday: four hours of hard graft, sore knees, and one exploded wheelbarrow tyre later, it was done. Once the cement had cured, the shed itself went up - the panels were better built than I expected for the price, straight and solid, which made the screw-together construction quick work. Start to finish, it took about three hours to go from bare base to a shed with a locked door.

Of course, there was the obligatory British rain shower right as I was nailing down the roofing felt, just to keep things authentic. But it's up, it's solid, and it's mine.
